Frequently asked questions regarding Wedding Flowers.
How far in advance do I need to book my wedding flowers?
Usually we advise to start the process at least 4-6 months in advance. This gives both the florist and the bride & groom plenty of time to organise every single fine detail of your wedding flowers. If you are running out of time, don’t panic! As long as we have enough time to pre-order with our growers we can still make your dream happen. Click here to book a consultation.
What is the process involved in organising wedding flowers?
The process begins with the initial consultation with the bride and groom to discuss their requirements. At this point, its ok if you are unsure, we are here to guide you. If you have an idea of the style, flowers, colour scheme, etc. you like, please bring photos, clippings and colour swatches along. Following the consultation, we will send you a full quote within 48 hours to consider. If you would like to book, we require a 10% deposit to secure your wedding date. You are welcome to pay the balance in instalments or over time, as long as the booking is paid in full 2 weeks prior to your wedding day.
What flowers are in season on my wedding day?
View our Wedding Flowers – Seasonal Guide for an availability list of the most popular wedding flowers. If you are still unsure, please ask!
Why do wedding flowers cost so much more than everyday flowers in the shop?
The greatest myth surrounding wedding flowers is that if you don’t tell the florist that the flowers are for a wedding, it will cost half the price. There are many factors contributing to the final price of wedding bou- quets, largely the types of flowers used, the style and the time taken to create them. Most wedding bouquets contain up to 50-60 individual flower stems and consist of high value flower varieties such as roses, exotic orchids and other flowers that are not as commonly used in shop arrangements. To artfully construct a bridal bouquet can take anywhere from half an hour to two hours, whereas a typical gift bunch usually takes within 2 to 15 minutes. However some wedding flower design choices can be very economical such as hand tied ba- by’s breath bouquets and hand tied garden bunches. We pride ourselves on honesty with our brides and they can rest assured that they are getting well what they pay for in wedding flowers by Botanical Art.
